Executive Director
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation of Proudly Accessible Dubuque (PAD) including planning, developing, budgeting, evaluating and implementing programs/projects, advocacy, identifying and organizating team/committee and/or future staffing needs; represents PAD on the local, state, and national level.
Duties:
- Report to the Board of Directors. Provide staff support to the board and its committees.
- Responsible for grant writing and grant management including identification and analysis of potential funding sources.
- Responsible for budgeting
- Work with Board of Directors and its committees to develop and expand the programs offered by PAD. Responsible for the implementation and expansion of these programs;
- Provide input to the Board of Directors regarding the need for and evaluation of staff, committees, sub-committees, ad-hoc committees and volunteers.
- Employ and supervise all staff/volunteers and their activities; coordinate delegation of projects. Act as an active member of all committees, sub-committees, and ad-hoc committees; may delegate those duties as necessary
- Submit required reports, needs assessments, annual reports, etc. to the Board of Directors and funding agencies as required
- Serve as chief spokesperson for PAD and acts as liaison with consumer and community groups; may delegate those duties as necessary.
- Provide information and referrals to callers and consumers.
- Take an active role in local business organizations and PAD Partners including, but not limited to, Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce, Dubuque Main Street, Greater Dubuque Development Corp., Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, City of Dubuque.
- Represent PAD in local, state and national disability & access-related business organizations.
Qualifications:
- Strong planning and organizational skills – able to identify all components of a project and appropriate resources to apply. Ability to effectively prioritize and organize tasks related to projects and ability to follow the project through to completion, ensuring all elements are completed properly and on time.
- Deadline oriented – ability to meet deadlines, often executing many diverse tasks simultaneously. Must have a strong sense of urgency with a demonstrated willingness to work extra hours if required. Note: there will be occasional after-business-hours work involved.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, pertaining to both technical and non-technical information is essential.
- Experience in public relations and group presentation.
- Innovative: ability to think outside the box
- Strong analytical skills. Able to process complex information and translate and incorporate the information into effective, engaging multimedia.
- Ability to ensure co-operation of volunteers/team members and to motivate others where required to achieve results
- Ability to work independently or with broad direction - independently planning and carrying out projects to achieve stated objectives.
- Strong work ethics – take pride in your work and strive to exceed expectations with an impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to follow standard review and approval processes
- Knowledge of grants, budgeting and finance; successful experience in developing and monitoring an annual organizational budget.
- Previous management and supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of the community and its business networks
- Willingness to advocate for disability rights and to increase public awareness on disability related issues as the issues relate to business owners.
- Helpful: experience in working with people with disabilities, or first hand experience with a disability.
